What is it

OEKO-TEX is an international certification system for textile products and production sites. The most requested standard is STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX: it confirms that a product contains no harmful substances above the established limits and is safe for people. There are also STeP (production site certification), Made in Green (a traceable label) and ECO PASSPORT (chemicals for the textile industry).

Who needs OEKO-TEX

  • Textile and garment factories working for export
  • Manufacturers of knitwear, fabrics, yarn and home textiles
  • Suppliers of European brands and retail chains
  • Manufacturers of children's clothing and underwear

What your company gets

  • Access to customers who require an OEKO-TEX certificate
  • Proof of product safety for EU and US markets
  • Increased trust of brands and buyers
  • The right to use the OEKO-TEX label on products

OEKO-TEX in Uzbekistan: a closer look at textile certification

OEKO-TEX certification in Uzbekistan is increasingly becoming a requirement of foreign textile customers: European brands and retail chains only accept products with proven safety. For Uzbek factories working for export, the OEKO-TEX certificate is a de facto pass to contracts and a way to move out of the "cheap production" niche into higher-margin orders.

Which OEKO-TEX standard to choose

STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX certifies products: fabrics, knitwear, garments, yarn, accessories. It confirms the absence of harmful substances through laboratory testing. STeP by OEKO-TEX certifies production: it assesses the environmental performance of processes, occupational safety and the factory's social responsibility. Made in Green is a traceability label for products made at STeP sites from materials tested under Standard 100. ECO PASSPORT certifies chemicals and dyes for the textile industry. At the start we help you choose what your customers actually require.

How Standard 100 certification works

The process includes an application with a detailed list of products, materials and suppliers, sample selection, laboratory testing for harmful substances (formaldehyde, heavy metals, banned azo dyes, pesticides and others) and issuance of a certificate valid for 1 year. For certain product classes a production audit is carried out. Products are divided into 4 classes: from baby items (the strictest limits) to decoration materials.

Where OEKO-TEX is required

The certificate is requested by European and American clothing brands, home textile chains, manufacturers of children's goods and public procurement customers in several countries. Having the certificate is often stated in technical specifications for contract manufacturing and removes the need for repeated testing with each customer.

Timeline and cost of OEKO-TEX certification in Uzbekistan

The timeline depends on the standard: for Standard 100 — from a few weeks with documentation ready; for STeP the project takes longer because of the production audit. The cost consists of laboratory testing (depending on the list of materials) and certification fees. An exact estimate follows the analysis of your products — free of charge.

Why it is safer with us

We have been supporting textile production in Uzbekistan for over 15 years and know the typical reasons for rejection: incomplete lists of materials, missing certificates from dye suppliers, an incorrectly chosen product class. We prepare the application so that testing passes on the first attempt, and help material suppliers arrange the necessary confirmations.

What it costs

The cost depends on the chosen OEKO-TEX standard and the list of products and materials. Leave a request and within a day we will calculate the exact cost and timeline for your case. The estimate is free and non-binding.

Frequently asked questions

How much does an OEKO-TEX certificate cost in Uzbekistan?
The cost depends on the chosen standard (Standard 100, STeP, Made in Green, ECO PASSPORT), the list of products and the volume of laboratory testing. Leave a request — after analysing the products we will calculate the exact cost and timeline free of charge.
What does STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX confirm?
That the product contains no harmful substances above the established limits and is safe for people. Verification is carried out by laboratory testing of samples for formaldehyde, heavy metals, banned azo dyes, pesticides and other substances.
How does STeP differ from Standard 100?
Standard 100 certifies products; STeP certifies production: the environmental performance of processes, occupational safety, social responsibility and chemical management at the factory. The Made in Green label requires both.
How long is an OEKO-TEX certificate valid?
The Standard 100 certificate is issued for 1 year and is renewed after repeated testing. The STeP certificate is valid for 3 years with annual monitoring.
Is OEKO-TEX mandatory for textile exports?
Not by law, but in practice European and American brands only accept products with proven safety, and OEKO-TEX is the most common way to provide such proof.
Do you work only in Uzbekistan?
No. Our team has international experience: we work with CIS countries (Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Russia — including Moscow) and beyond, including the UAE and Dubai. We run projects remotely and with expert site visits.
